Leading with Kindness for MLK Day at COA
Carolus Online Academy (COA) is proud to share our Speak Like A King initiative, a schoolwide celebration of kindness, leadership, and student voice in honor of MLK Day, January 19th. Martin Luther King Jr. Day honors one of the most influential leaders in American history, known for advocating equality, peace, and justice. At COA, we believe student creativity and positive communication build strong communities. In recognition of Dr. King’s legacy, students are invited to share original poems, artworks, videos, and positive messages that showcase leadership traits like bravery, empathy, and compassion.
COA Students Share Powerful Voices and Creativity
Many students shared messages about kindness, inclusion, and uplifting others. Their posts include heartfelt messages, inspiring drawings, and thoughtful reflections that represent what kindness means in everyday life.
One student shared, “Be kind when they are not. If someone is rude to you, remember that everyone has their problems, so just be kind even when its hard.”
Another added: “Don’t let somebody’s words make you feel sad, you are strong and can get back up! Believe in yourself.”
Mrs. Black, a COA teacher, chimed in with her favorite quote, “Anyone who does anything to help a child in his life is a hero to me” by Mr. Rogers
This community page of uplifting messages encourages our students to practice kindness in person and online.
Impact on the COA Community
The Speak Like a King initiative supports Carolus Online Academy’s mission to foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. COA students are empowered to:
• Use their voice for encouragement and positive change
• Build stronger connections across their community
• Practice leadership through creative expression and collaboration
